Mr. Charles F. Roark, 78 years of Anderson, Missouri, a retired truck driver, departed this life at 1:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Charles was born on July 1, 1931 in rural McDonald County, Missouri near Hart, son of the late Wes Henry and Martha Adeline (Thompson) Roark. On June 3, 1950 in Neosho, Missouri he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Sharp and to this union five sons and three daughters were born. He lived his entire life in McDonald County except for a two year period that he and Mary Jane worked on a ranch near Phoenix, Arizona. He worked as a truck driver throughout his life. He began his career with O'Brien's and later retired from Moark's in Neosho, Missouri in 1996. He enjoyed gardening, caring for his farm, storytelling and listening to Kurm Dial a Trade and Tradio with his son Randy. He was a member of the Southwest City United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jane Roark on January 13, 1991; a daughter, Mary Charlene Roark; a son, Charles Ray Roark; two brothers, John and Wesley Roark; and a sister, Ruby Slagle.
Charles is survived by four sons, Roy Roark of Southwest City, Missouri, Randy Roark of Anderson, Missouri, Jerry Roark and wife, Tammy, of Anderson, Missouri and Ricky "Berton" Roark and Sarah Evens of Neosho, Missouri; two daughters, Linda Sultzer and Pamela Lewis and husband, Darrell, both of Anderson, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Ludiker of Tiff City, Missouri and Mary Sprague of Anderson, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Roark are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastors Robert Dean Roark and Mike Roark officiating. Burial will follow in the Swars Prairie Cemetery near Seneca, Missouri. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Chadlee Roark, Brien Sultzer, Ricky Roark, Eddie Spencer, Dwayne Fickle and Dylan Hardage. Roy Roark will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
