Mr. Joe William George, 87, of Carthage, Missouri formerly of Goodman, Missouri departed this life on Sunday morning, July 15, 2012 at St. Luke’s Care Center in Carthage, Missouri.
Joe entered this life on July 3, 1925 in Piggott, Arkansas born to the union of the late William Henry and Alpha Omega (Vaughan) George. He resided in Piggott until the George family moved to Thayer, Missouri in 1933. Joe joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and traveled the state of Missouri planting trees and establishing parks. He moved to Los Angeles, California in 1942 and in December of 1943 he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country faithfully during WWII spending his time in the Philippines. After being honorably discharged in 1945 he returned to California and started a paint contracting business. In 1970 Joe moved to Goodman, Missouri and managed the Ranch Warn Acres for his sister and brother in-law. He enjoyed farm life, animals and found great pleasure in riding horses and driving a team.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Fern Stone; and a brother, Caraway George.
Joe is survived by one son, Kenny George of Hermistead, Oregon; two daughters, Marcia Schniedmiller of Walla Walla, Washington and Connie Moore of the state of Idaho; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Adolph George of Lodi, California; two sisters, Vermal Norris of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee and Virginia Warn of Goodman, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services with full military honors for Mr. George are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Howard Cemetery in Goodman, Missouri.
