Biography

Jack D. "J.D." Houpe of Noel, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at the Quail Ridge Nursing Center in Siloam Springs, Arkansas at the age of eighty years.

Jack entered this life on July 13, 1926 in Cooleemee, North Carolina. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during WWII, serving in Africa and Korea. Jack later joined the Air Force, a career that lasted over twenty-five years. After being honorably discharged he made his home in Hillsburg, California where he worked in construction. On November 25, 1978 in Reno, Nevada he was united in marriage to Elaine F. Smith and together they shared the last twenty-nine years. In 1993 he and Elaine left California to make their home in Noel, Missouri. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, golfing and was extremely found of his cats.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Billy and Gene Houpe.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Houpe of the home; a son, Jack D. Houpe, Jr. and wife, Kathleen, of Gravette, Arkansas; a daughter, Teresa Burchette and husband, Don, of Grove, Oklahoma; three step-sons, Keith Smith of Sacramento, California, Bryan Smith of Antioch, California and David Smith and wife, Amy, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.
