Sherman Wesley Mathews September 5, 1936 - April 2, 2005
Mr. Sherman Wesley Mathews, age sixty-eight years, of Carterville, Missouri formerly of Noel, Missouri departed this life on Saturday, April 2, 2005 in his home.
Sherman was born September 5, 1936 in Rogers, Arkansas to the late James A. Garfield and Susie (Anderson) Mathews. Throughout his life Sherman was a hardworking and devoted family man to his wife and children. He was an avid fisherman, and gifted musician.
At the time of his passing he was reunited with his parents; sisters, Nancy, Edna, Mary, Shirley, and Virgie; brothers, Alfred, Ed, Alva, J.W., and James; and three grandchildren, Billy Dejuan Mathews, William Eugene Belvins, and Jimmy Lee Mathews.
Sherman is survived by his wife of thirty years Karla Mathews of the home; seven daughters, Debbie Norris and Frank of West Fork, Arkansas, Kathy Kelly and Scott of Hartselle, Alabama, Virgie Morgan and Randy of Goodman, Missouri, Tammy Mills and Richard of Pineville, Missouri, Donna Simmons and Don of Webb City, Missouri, Ruth McClearen and Richard of Webb City, Missouri, and Jackie Wilson and Scott of Carterville, Missouri; four sons, James Mathews and Tena of Anderson, Missouri, Floyd Mathews of Anderson, Missouri, David Mathews and Jenny of Anderson, Missouri, and Jesse Mathews of the state of Missouri; twenty-five grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; two sisters, Dixie Pogue of Gravette, Arkansas, and Hazel Leach of Anderson, Missouri; two brothers, Henry Mathews of Hazleton, Idaho, and Bill Darnaby of Harrison, Arkansas; as well as a host of other family and friends.
